  • 4 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Split Peas Powder
  • 2 Teaspoons Yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1 Packet MAGGI® Season-Up All Purpose (10g)
  • 2 Tablespoons MAGGI® Green Seasoning Spicy
  • 2 1/2 Cups Warm Water (2- 2½ cups)
  • 3 Cups Canola Oil (enough oil for frying)

Instructions

  • 1.Combine all ingredients except for the water and oil for frying, stirring to combine
  • 2.Gradually add water until you get a thick, pancake-like, batter.
  • 3.Cover, set aside and allow to rest in a warm area for minimum 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  • 4.In a pot preheat oil to 350˚F (180˚C). Gradually drop batter 1 tablespoonful at a time, into the hot oil until lightly golden and cooked through (approximately 2-3 minutes. Cook in batches, do not overcrowd the pot.
  • 5.Place into a cooler lined with greaseproof paper.
  • 6.Serve hot with tamarind sauce or chutney of your choice.
