Traditional Rice and Peas
Rice and Peas is a staple in many English speaking Caribbean nations, here's a few simple steps to recreate this favourite recipe.
Ingredients
- 12 grams MAGGI® Rice it Up Chinese Fried Rice Seasoning
- 2 Sprigs Thyme
- 1 Teaspoon Allspice Powder
(Pimento)
- 1/4 Cup Onion
Chopped
- 1/4 Cup Escallion
Chopped
- 1 Unit Scotch Bonnet
Whole
- 2 Cups Red Kidney Beans
(drained & liquids reserved)
- 1/2 Tablespoon Butter
- 2 Cups Cold Water
- 3 Cups Rice, white, glutinous, unenriched, uncooked
- 1 Package MAGGI® Coconut Milk Powder (50g)
dissolved in 2 cups lukewarm water

2. Add peas, onion, scallion, pimento, thyme, garlic, ginger, pepper, allow to simmer. Add MAGGI CHINESE FRIED RICE IT UP to the pot along with the rice and butter.
