Potato & Pumpkin Soup with Smoked Bones

  • 1 Pound Smoked Bones
  • 1/4 Cup Green Seasoning
  • 1 Packet MAGGI® Season-Up All Purpose Powdered Seasoning
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter (or margarine)
  • 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Unit Onion (minced)
  • 1 Tablespoon Pimento/ Seasoning Pepper (minced)
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic (minced)
  • 1 Pound Pumpkin (peeled and finely diced)
  • 1 Pound Potatoes (peeled and finely diced)
  • 1 Package MAGGI® Soup It Up! Vegetable Soup Mix
  • 7 Cups Hot Water
  • 1 cube MAGGI® Vegetable Flavoured Seasoning Cubes
  • 1.5 Pounds Mixed Provisions (peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes)


  1. In a bowl season smoked bone with green seasoning and MAGGI® Season Up All Purpose. Set aside (for best results marinate overnight)

  2. In a large heavy bottomed pot heat butter/margarine and vegetable oil. Sauté onion, pimento and garlic until onions are translucent.

  3. Add pumpkin, potato, MAGGI® Soup It Up Vegetable, Hot water and MAGGI® Vegetable Cube and bring to a boil.

  4. Cook until pumpkin and potatoes are soft. Remove from heat and using an immersion blender, blend all ingredients in the pot until smooth. Place pot back on the heat and add smoked bones and mixed provisions.

  5. Cook until provisions and seasoned smoked bones are cooked through. Serve immediately.
