Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds Minced Beef (or minced chicken)
  • 2 Packets MAGGI® Season-Up All Purpose (10g)
  • 1 Small Onion (minced)
  • 4 Pieces Garlic (minced)
  • 4 Tablespoons Green Seasoning
  • 2 Tablespoons Pimento/ Seasoning Peppers (finely chopped)
  • 2 Teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon Tomato Paste
  • 1 Cube MAGGI® Onion and Garlic Cube
  • 0 1/8 Cup Green Olives (pitted and chopped)
  • 1 Tablespoon Capers (minced)
  • 1/4 Cup Raisins (optional)
  • 2 Cups Cornmeal
  • 1 Teaspoon Granulated Sugar
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter (melted)
  • 2 Cups Warm Water (you may not need all of the water)
  • 1 Cup Cheddar Cheese (grated)

Instructions

  • 1.  Season the minced beef with the Season Up All Purpose
  • 2.  In a pan on low heat, add the seasoned beef, onion, garlic and green seasoning. Allow to cook for 5 mins. Add pimentos, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup tomato paste and Onion & Garlic Cube. Continue cooking until all of the liquid is absorbed. Add olives and capers and raisins and stir. Remove from heat.
  • 3.  Preheat oven to 350˚F (180˚C)
  • 4.  In a large bowl, using your hands, combine cornmeal, sugar, butter and then slowly start pouring warm water. The warm water should start melting the butter into the dough. Add enough warm water to form a soft dough that comes together in your hands.
  • 5.  Grease baking dish and pat half of the cornmeal dough into the bottom. Place the meat in the middle and layer the remaining dough on the top.
  • 6.  Top with cheese and bake for 45-55 minutes until golden.
  • 7.  Remove from oven and allow to cool completely before cutting.
