Ingredients

  • 2 Cups KLIM® Powdered Milk
  • 1/2 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Margarine
  • 2/3 Cup CARNATION® Full Cream Evaporated Milk
  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Piece Ginger (small)
  • 1 Unit Cardamom Pod
  • 4 Cups Vegetable Oil (for frying)

Instructions

To make Balls:

  • 1.  In an electric mixer combine the Milk Powder, flour and baking powder. Then add margarine and mix until mixture is crumbly.
  • 2.  Add Evaporated Milk and mix well until dough is firm. Then, shape into 1-inch balls.

To make syrup:

  • 3.  Combine sugar, water, ginger and cardamom in a medium saucepan
  • 4.  Heat and stir until the mixture is boiling and sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat to low to keep syrup warm.

Putting it all together:

  • 5.  Heat oil in a saucepan to about 300°F (149˚C) and fry the balls until golden brown. Drain them on paper towels for a few minutes, place in syrup and leave to soak.
  • 6.  Serve chilled
