Crispy Fried Ochro

  • 2 Eggs
  • ¼ cup Carnation Evaporated Milk
  • 1 cup Yellow corn meal
  • ½ cup Flour
  • 3 tsp Maggi Season-Up, All Purpose
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • ½ tsp Chili powder
  • 2 cups Oil for frying
  • 1 lb Ochro


    1. Wash ochro and pat dry with dishtowel.

    2. Cut ends off of ochro and cut into ¾ “ piece rounds.

    3. In a medium bowl whisk eggs, Evaporated Milk and remainder of ingredients.

    4. Toss ochro into egg mixture and coat pieces evenly.

    5. Fry in heavy cast iron skillet or pot. (This should be done in batches to ensure even cooking).

    6. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with Season Up.
